2016年11月，モディ・インド首相が訪日した際，安倍首相との間で，日印間の人の交流をさらに活発化させるため2017年を日印友好交流の年とすることに合意しました。2017年は，日印文化協定発効60周年でも有ります。10年前も日印交流年として様々な事業が両国で開催されました。

　インド政府が日本国内で開催する主要事業の始まりが5月の東大寺での菩提僊那継承事業です。ケララ州からカラリパヤット8名が派遣され宮城県女川町ナマステ・インディアを皮切りにインド大使館、東大寺を含み全国公演をしました。9月のナマステ・インディア2017も同様に来日グループが全国に展開する準備をしています。2月にスタートとした森美術館のインド現代美術、「N.S.ハルシャ展」も公式催事となり6月まで開催されました。これから様々な事業が両国で展開されていきますが、この様な官民一体となった二国間の交流により両国の相互理解が一層増進されることでしょう。

　During the visit of H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India to Japan in November 2016, the two Prime Ministers agreed to mark the year 2017 as a year of Japan-India friendly exchanges to further enhance people-to-people exchanges between Japan and India. The year 2017 also marks the 60th anniversary since the Cultural Agreement came into force in 1957.

　A beginning of main event that the Indian government holds in Japan is Bodhisena succession event in Todai-ji Temple of May. Eight Kalarippayattu is dispatched from Kerala and include Indian embassy, Todai-ji Temple with Onagawa-cho, Miyagi Namaste India as a start and give a performance nationwide.
Namaste India 2017 of September does the preparations that a visit to Japan group presents equally in  country.
It became to be an official special event that the Indian contemporary art of Mori Art Museum which It has been already held in February, "Charming Journey with N.S.Harsha " are held until June.

　Various event is developed in the two countries, but the mutual understanding of the two countries will be what is increased still more by The government and it's people together as one such a  united bilateral interchange from now on.
